As the Dragon Boat Festival approaches, the Taichung City Tun District Art Center has planned a festive program titled Dragon Boat Festival Celebration in the Tun District, which will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, at the Center’s outdoor amphitheater. The event will feature exciting stage performances by Cao Creative Percussion Theater and Tien Circus Theatre. Fun games and a Dragon Boat Festival story exhibition will also be held on site, creating a festive arts event perfect for families and inviting visitors of all ages to enjoy a joyful and memorable holiday together.
The Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government stated that this event brings together two performance groups especially popular with audiences. Cao Creative Percussion Theater will present a performance that combines rhythmic creativity with physical movement, using everyday objects as percussion instruments to create layered beats and transform familiar sounds into stage language, showcasing a diverse and dynamic performance style. Tien Circus Theatre will center its performance on a circus family show filled with childlike charm and fantasy, incorporating magic, acrobatic hula hoops, and rolling tube techniques to lead audiences into a joyful and imaginative circus world.
In addition to the exciting stage performances, the venue will also feature a Dragon Boat Festival Customs Story Exhibition, using playful design to present the origins and traditions of the festival in an easy and engaging way. It is suitable for both children and adults to enjoy together and experience the festive spirit. A fun challenge game titled Zongyi Push Challenge will also be held on site, and successful participants will receive a limited edition Good Fortune Rice Dumpling Charm, adding a touch of holiday luck. Visitors who complete a questionnaire after the event may also redeem one practical insulated bag while supplies last.
Shu-Min Yuan, Director of the Taichung City Tun District Art Center, stated that the Dragon Boat Festival is one of Taiwan’s most important traditional holidays. All performances on the day of the event will be free of charge. In addition, in conjunction with Dragon Boat Festival traditions, a Teacher Dapeng Storytelling Session will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 28, using lively and engaging storytelling to introduce the origins and customs of the festival. Through this series of Dragon Boat Festival activities, the Center hopes to bring the public closer to the arts and allow more people to experience the charm of traditional culture. Members of the public are sincerely invited to participate. For more information, please visit the official website of the Taichung City Tun District Art Center at https://www.ttdac.taichung.gov.tw.
