Taichung’s Parent-Child Arts Festival Launches on May 3 — AI Superman Invites You into a Summer Fair

The Taichung City Tun District Art Center is about to launch its major annual event, the 2025 Parent-Child Arts Festival, on May 3! Centered around the theme “Creative Future Stars,” the festival will present a variety of exciting performances, including family-friendly theater and live music, at its amphitheater, auditorium, and Experimental Theater. Performing artist “Granny Fruity Pie” (Chao Tzu-Chiang) will appear as “Light Superman,” using technology and the arts to deliver a fresh and dynamic children's show. Additionally, there will also be prize giveaways featuring items like air purifiers and 3D printing pens. The event is surely to being a warm and lively arts experience to families this summer.

According to Deputy Director Shih Chun-Fu of Taichung’s Cultural Affairs Bureau, the Parent-Child Arts Festival draws over ten thousand visitors each year. This year’s event features a special collaboration with the Taiwan Youth Band, an outstanding performing arts group in Taichung who will perform Dinosaur Academy—a fairy tale-themed salon concert that blends dinosaur stories and interactive games, giving children a playful way to discover the beauty of brass instruments. Meanwhile, T.U. Percussion Ensemble, known for championing local compositions, joins forces with popular family podcaster “Ms. Sandy” to present a whimsical adventure where music and storytelling come together, leading audiences into a cheerful world of music. Plus, starting now until May 18 (Sunday), a public YAMAHA piano is set up in the lobby of the Tun District Art Center, where everyone is encouraged to showcase their skills and dive into the world of piano music.

The 2025 Parent-Child Arts Festival – Creative Future Stars ticketed shows promise a lineup of top-tier performances. Ifkids Theatre Studio’s Little Pig Detective 2: Trouble in the Classroom will invite kids and adults alike to solve a mysterious case together, where interactive elements allow the audience to become part of the story. Furthermore, this year’s brand-new show “AI Experimental Theater – Light Superman,” an upgraded version of the popular Story Superman from 2024, merges AI technology with 3D modeling, allowing audiences to interact with actors in real time and co-create the story, offering an extraordinary theatrical experience that transcends time and space.

The free performances at the Amphitheater promise plenty of fun. Drama Cooperative Theater Group will present A Different Kind of Prince, a story promoting gender equality, while KISS ME Theater Group brings A New Student in the Magic Village and The Party-Loving Grasshopper that offers a lively blend of humor and educational elements. Ifkids Theatre Studio will also stage three major productions: Let’s Perform Children's Songs, which combines children's songs with playful games; Coconut’s Grand Adventure, which uses a creative story and interactive activities to highlight the importance of reducing food waste; and The Big Bad Wolf Saves Little Red Riding Hood, a reimagining of the classic fairy tale that promises an all-new theatrical experience.

The Tun District Art Center shared that from May 3 to June 29, the first-floor lobby will host the AR Technology Interactive Mini-Exhibition, giving the public the opportunity to experience digital art firsthand. All are warmly invited to join in this lively celebration of the arts. The event today (April 24) opened with vibrant performances by Ifkids Theatre Studio and T.U. Percussion Ensemble. Percussion Ensemble, Legislator Ho Hsin-Chun’s office assistant Chan Chun-Yu, Council member Lai Yi-Huang’s office secretary Lai Kuan-Cheng, Council member Huang Chia-Tien’s office special assistant Hou Chih-Wei, Council member Chang Yu-Yan’s office assistant Chang Shun-Fu, and Tseng Chia-Wei, Director of Academic Affairs at Tou-Pien Elementary School in Taiping District, Taichung City.
